Kat & Colin's baby shower

This is Kat and Colin from USAA Group 110. Kat may not look it, but she's four months overdue! That's right, it was originally thought that they'd have their Sophia's referral sometime last year. Needless to say, the delays are brutal!

Today was their baby shower and even though there was no picture of sweet little Sophia, I know she's out there somewhere waiting for some bureaucracy to match her file with the file of her new mom and dad. When that happens, the lives of many people will finally converge. It'll happen soon. A few weeks at the most.

Gwen ran around their house and did what she does best: Act cute. She's a walking advertisment for China adoption since she's charming beyond words. I can't claim any credit for for it either. Darn!

Today, Gwen learned how to rip paper off of packages. She never quite figured this out over Christmas but she's got it mastered now! She "helped" Kat open all of her baby shower gifts and here she is posing with the presents she just assumed would all be for her!

I hope time flies and the next batch of referrals are announced soon! I have so many friends who were so close last month and are more than ready for the stork to arrive and bring their extended labor to a happy end!

This photo reminded me of my neice when she was a little older than Gwen. She went to a shower and helped with the gifts. When we went to leave she begin to drag "her" gifts to the door. When we explained they were not hers, but the new baby's, she cried deep sad mournful tears at the injustice of not being able to keep the gifts she opened. She is still a very sensitive child ( 11) but no longer crys so much any more ! We kind of miss that small girl who used to wait up for "bruber" to return from his dates and cry when he said another girl was his girlfriend !!
she never made it past 9:30 waiting for him to come home from those dates and many nights fell asleep blocking his doorway so she wouldn't miss him ! When he got married recently she cried at his wedding ( so did aunt Amanda! ) and my sister felt true joy that their age difference ( 16 years ) was such a sweet good thing to have watched unfold.
That my friend is what you have to look forward to !!
